We, Regenera Rising of Hopland, California, declare that we are woven into the whole web of life. Interdependence, to us, is interbeing — the complete expression of oneness in all of reality, a relation to self and to all that is. It is a web of knots: pull one and you pull all the others; if one thing breaks, the whole is broken. It is mutual responsibility and mutual support, the humble truth that we cannot do it all on our own — that we require the ability to depend on other people and other things, some close and some far away. It is reciprocity — vulnerable relations beyond our control, alive in every exchange — and inter-DEEPendence, choosing deep connection over the surface, slow-time and beauty over the transactional. Everything is a cycle held in harmony; everything is sacred; and beneath it all runs a current of courageous love and mutual care.
We hold this to be plain: we are interdependent with our parents, teachers, and ancestors; with our partners, our communities, and the places, tribes, and watersheds we live within. We are bound to the trees and the air, the soil and the plants, the water and the whales, and to all beings on Earth. We depend on food and healthcare and transportation, on the global economy and the microbiome in our own guts, on the sun and moon, on the seen and unseen systems that hold us, and on the stories that give us meaning. We are woven to the future and to every life form that came before us, to the Great Mystery, to the divine spirit, to all that is and ever was and will be. The smallest ripple reaches us; our smallest act reaches all.
We hold a vision of an interdependent society: power and governance distributed to those closest to the problem, technology and capital placed in service of life, broken systems named and mended, all things kept in sync. We see a world of less scarcity and more biodiversity — walkable cities, food and resource security, shared green spaces, elders eldering and children laughing. We see a global culture of care: mutual trust and ownership, circular and gift economies, transparency and elderhood, safety so that no life is threatened. A world where wars end and peace prevails, where borders soften and no one needs to distinguish themselves from the other — rooted in nature, in original trust, in reciprocity, and in decolonization.
And so we commit to make it real. Healing inside is healing outside, and so we begin with ourselves — showing up with presence, curiosity, awareness, wisdom, and joy. We commit to service and to giving, to sharing our gifts, to asking for help and support, and to trusting our own intuition. We commit to lifelong learning as both learners and educators, to honestly composting the parts of ourselves that must become fertile soil for the next era of expression, to facilitating the work that reconnects, and to helping technology serve all of life. We commit to protect the Earth, to redistribute power and abundance, to tend the narrative of our kinship journey, and to be good ancestors. We and the Earth are one — and this is our declaration of interdependence.
