We the people of Pachamama Alliance declare that interdependence is the living truth that kinship and reciprocity bind everything to everything else, and that we belong to each other and to all life. We hold this to be plain: our local creeks and watersheds, our rivers and snowmelt, the soils and microorganisms, the mycelial webs, the redwoods and oaks and bay laurels, the owls and egrets and hummingbirds, our families and neighbors, our ancestors and future ones, and all the farmers and workers who make our lives possible—each makes our existence possible. We envision communities grounded in bioregions, thriving through mutual care, regeneration, gratitude, and shared purpose, living within the rhythms and limits of nature and honoring the cycles of life. Empowered by our partnership with Indigenous peoples, we commit to serving a regenerative, interdependent future with responsibility and sacred reciprocity, bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on this Earth.
Earthkind
We, the people of Earthkind, declare that our lives are braided with one another and with the living systems that carry water through this place. We hold this plain: we depend on a multitude of unseen bacteria, on the natural systems moving water across the land, on the people who care for our children, on our partners and housemates, and on the communities of place, purpose, and passion that steady us. They are not background but the ground itself.
We see interdependence in the neighbor who says the school garden is looking okay, in the harmonies we fumble toward in one another's living rooms, in the block party that turns strangers into family, in the coffee made each morning, in the sun rising over the passion flower vines, and in the flock of crows that greets the dawn.
We commit to keep remembering — to pause and remember, to allow our energies to flow into the work of building the new, and to remember to rest. We commit to getting a lot less afraid of taking care of one another and receiving care, to getting a lot slower, to spending more time looking at clouds and wondering how the trees feel about the wind. To this end we will build a coalition that coordinates and coheres action to address the metacrisis at the scales required, fostering a transformation toward a flourishing future for all life. Action, belonging, coordination — these are not abstractions. They are the practice of remembering that we are not alone, and that the work of flourishing is done together.
Design Science Studio
We, the people of The Design Science Studio, declare that the future is always first an idea — and that we are woven into the whole web of life. Interdependence, to us, is interbeing: a web of knots where to pull one is to pull them all, and as one strengthens, the whole is strengthened. It is mutual responsibility and the humble truth that we cannot do it alone. It is reciprocity — vulnerable, alive in every exchange — and the choice of deep connection and slow-time beauty over the transactional. Everything is a cycle held in harmony; everything is sacred; and beneath it all runs a current of courageous love.
We name our interdependence plainly: our parents, teachers, and ancestors; our partners and communities; the watersheds and unceded lands we live within — the Salish Sea, the redwoods and their ravens, the Grande Ronde, Clackamas, and Esopus grounds beneath our neighbors' feet. We are bound to the soil and the whales, to mockingbirds and beavers, orangutans and termites, to our gardens and our dogs, and to the microbiome in our own bellies. We depend on food and healthcare, on the seen and unseen systems that hold us, and on the stories that give us meaning. The smallest ripple reaches us; our smallest act reaches all.
We hold a vision of an interdependent society: power held closest to those nearest the problem, technology and capital placed in service of life, broken systems named and mended. We see more biodiversity and less scarcity — walkable cities, food security, shared green spaces, elders eldering and children laughing. We see a global culture of care: circular and gift economies, decolonization and reciprocity, safety so that no life is threatened, and the Beauty Way realized — the Earth guarded, the water protected, the air purified, the fire kept.
And so we commit to make it real. Healing inside is healing outside, so we begin with ourselves — showing up with presence, curiosity, and joy. We commit to connect the people and steward the commons, to share our gifts, to learn as students and teachers both, and to compost what is finished in us into fertile soil for what comes next. We commit to tend the narrative of our kinship journey, to help technology serve all of life, and to be good ancestors. As a (r)evolutionary incubator and commUnity of practice, we dedicate ourselves to supporting creators worldwide in imagining and creating equitable, just, regenerative, protopian futures that work for all of life — because the future is always first an idea, and we and the Earth are one. This is our declaration of interdependence.

We, the people of Denizen, declare that our wellbeing is bound to one another and to the living systems that hold us. We name our interdependence plainly: the Bay Area watershed and the redwoods where ravens roost, the Congaree and Saluda rivers of the Carolinas, the Tongva and Chumash lands of Los Angeles, the Thames flowing through London, the trails of Los Gatos where turtles sun and monarchs pass through, the air we share with the plants, the vast supply chains that bring us what we need, and the economies our daily choices set in motion. We belong to our families, our beloveds, our neighbors and apprentices, the elders who guide us, the friends who tell us the truth, the cats and pollinators and creatures who share our homes and gardens. We hold the generations behind us who gave their lives so ours could begin, and the generation ahead whose lives our choices will shape. They are not background but the ground itself.
We come from many places and one recognition: that we are not separate from other beings but woven into the interconnection of all life — affecting and affected by the world around us. Interdependence means mutual reciprocity and accountability, connection with all life known and unknown, the felt understanding that this connection is what sustains us and all things. We commit to love our people well, to lend courage where we can, to understand how our choices ripple across the world, and to act accordingly. We commit to expanding the field of cultural possibility in support of the vision and practice of interdependence — the beautiful, sacred, messy work of living together with deep intention, curiosity, and mutual care.
We hold a vision of distributed power and governance that catalyzes our co-creative force, of technology and capital in service to life, of a minimal standard of wellbeing guaranteed to everyone — food, shelter, education, health care, and community — and a ceiling on the concentration of power and wealth that would degrade our biosphere and capture our institutions. We envision a future rooted in love, where our needs are simple and met collectively, where we gain more from giving to others than from taking for ourselves, and where we share our gifts with each other in service. We dedicate ourselves to the systemic change that makes it so — change that begins from within.
